A Virtual Project with Baycrest@Home. January - March 2022
MAMC is working with Adult Caregivers who are supporting family members and are affiliated to Baycrest@Home,- a programme that helps older adults age safely and well at home.
Each week MAMC meets with the participants on ZOOM and we respond to a provocation for art-making. As always, MAMC introduces participants to art making as a way to find a visual representation of their rich experience where materials and techniques are explored as possibilities for self-expression.
At the heart of the project is its community building and peer support. Over the duration of the 8-weeks, participants become an engaged community, talking, responding, experimenting, taking risks, and communicating about their work, interests, thoughts, concerns, and their role as caregivers. It’s a programme about creative self-discovery, poetry, writing, and the act of making in a supportive visually stimulating online environment. The artwork becomes a layered exploration of self, in dialogue with others.
