Faces and Places

of THE CORNER Community

MAMC met many old friends and many new seniors who had heard about our programmes. We offered “Faces and Places of our Neighbourhood”. All participants live in TCH buildings. The colour vocabulary of this group is as vibrant as the places where they were born. The participants were encouraged to use palettes that they remembered from growing up in places as varied as the Philippines, South India, the Caribbean Islands, Iran and more. The result is a neighbourhood filled with red and pink buildings, shops and street signs in bright blues and yellows. Krishna, Radha and the Virgin Mary in a grotto can be seen alongside images of the flowers in the Allen Gardens and animals at the Riverdale Zoo. As the artists worked, they told stories about what it means to be part of the community at The Corner.  32 participants were very proud of their work and their written reflections form part of the installation.

The panels will be exhibited at the Senior Care Conference at the end of June, 2026
