Artists in Their Kitchen: A Collaborative Project In The Time Of Covid 19
MAMC’s second virtual art project is an 11-week collaboration. On Tuesdays, each participant invites us into their kitchen and prepares a recipe that is of special significance to them. As the artist cooks the rest of us interact and vicariously enjoy the sensuous aromas, surroundings, and colours while listening to the cook’s family stories. On Thursdays, we meet in our virtual studio to respond using different art techniques and materials.
Through storytelling, art making and now cooking, MAMC has developed a culture of listening, sharing, and honouring each other’s differences and similarities, creating change in the understanding of others and our own selves.
MAMC will publish the recipes, correspondence, drawings, paintings, sculptures and collages in a collaborative cook-story book.
