THE FACES AND PLACES OF LAWRENCE HEIGHTS

The Faces and Places of Lawrence Heights

Lawrence Heights is the second collaboration between Toronto Community Housing and MAMC.

Lawrence Heights is a longstanding community in the northwest end of Toronto. Their inhabitants have lived here for generations and have grown strong roots. Revitalization is reshaping Toronto's Lawrence Heights community, replacing the current social housing townhouse blocks with new, higher-density residential units.

MAMC worked with twelve participants, some of whom were born in Lawrence Heights and have brought their children up here.
Faces and Places Of Lawrence Heights explored the stories, landmarks, and people who make this housing estate a community.

The result is a large canvas with a map of the community layered with self-portraits,  participants' drawings, and paintings of well-loved buildings, parks, and a hill that was part of their childhood memories and personal recollections.

MAMC thanks Levi Warack,  Sikandar Panag, and all the participants for welcoming us to this exceptional community.
