In this new art encounter, MAMC met new seniors and reconnected with old friends. Vanessa and Elena facilitated the creation of artist books with a lively group of seniors ranging in age from their 70s to early 90s. Conversations about life, food, travel, and cold weather were interspersed with the energy of each activity as the pages filled with drawings and paintings in the sketchbooks and accordion books. It was very exciting for Vanessa to hear Elena conducting the class in Spanish and find her tongue in a new language while enjoying the universality of art as a common connection.
