Addressing Covid19
A Message from Our Chair:
In March of this year, COVID 19 changed our lives dramatically. A worldwide pandemic was declared: our social freedoms were cut short, and social isolation and social distancing became the norm.
Here at MAMC, we have always believed that we are stronger together. In this unprecedented time of isolation, our mission to connect people through collaborative art-making feels more relevant than ever. Despite the constraints imposed by COVID-19, MAMC is finding new ways to engage people through social media, a newly revamped website and an upcoming quarterly newsletter. Our weekly Art Prompts on Instagram aim to combat social isolation by creating an on-line forum where people can connect and share their art-making and storytelling projects.
Going forward, if in-person programming is not possible, MAMC will implement online delivery systems to support our work. In fact, in the next few weeks, our founders Vanessa Barnett and Elena Soni, will work to connect two Alumni groups using Zoom conferencing.
A Special Thanks to Our Donors:
In supporting MAMC, you provide a unique opportunity to those struggling with isolation, as well as to future artists and budding community leaders who might not otherwise be able to explore life’s challenges through the creative process of art-making.
Because of your contribution, MAMC is able to design and facilitate collaborative programming that helps participants share their stories with others and, as a result, encourages self-knowledge, fosters relationships and builds stronger communities one art piece at a time!
Thanks to your generosity, as well as that of our partnering institutions, participants are able to visit and discover some of Toronto’s incredible cultural landmarks where their creations are showcased in community art installations. Your support has inspired others to be curious, creative, and collaborative.
If you have any comments or questions about our programming or you’d just like to chat, we’d love to hear from you.
Please contact our founders Vanessa Barnett at 647 261 3648 and/or Elena Soni at 647 885 1408. Or follow us on Instagram @ MAMCCanada. We’d love to connect!
Thank you so very much for planting the seeds of self-discovery, resilience, and community building through the creative process! We truly appreciate your support.
